Fall Foods You Should Try

With fall upon us, we’re entering the season of cooler temperatures and changing leaves. You can’t forget about the seasonal produce full of healthy nutrients that will leave your body feeling happy and healthy. Check out this list for 10 of our favorite fall foods.

Apples – a popular fall treat, apples are full of antioxidants and vitamin C which can help strengthen the immune system.

Pumpkin – it’s no secret that pumpkin is everybody’s fall favorite. Pumpkins are packed with nutrients that can improve vision, cardiovascular health, and even help with weight loss. Don’t forget about the seeds which can make for a healthy snack and are a great source of vitamins/antioxidants.

Cranberries – best during October and November, cranberries help protect from cancer and help promote healthy bacteria. 

Brussels Sprouts – while you may have hated brussels sprouts as a kid, they’re filled with protein and vitamins to increase red blood cells and strengthen bones. 

Figs – argued to be one of the first fruits discovered, figs are a tasty treat that are high in fiber and can help to control blood sugar and lower cholesterol.

Cauliflower – a great alternative to starchy sides, cauliflower can prevent infections and boost your immune system.

Beets – although you can get beets any time of year, they are at their peak during the fall. Beets can help to prevent heart and liver disease. Try roasting them or putting them in a salad.

Pears – a sometimes underappreciated fruit, pears are high in fiber, low in calories and a great source of antioxidants.

Squash – with many varieties to choose from, try winter squash for to promote healthy skin and hair and to decrease your sugar cravings.
