What is the most important meal of the day?

During a busy morning, it can be easy to skip breakfast. You may only have time to grab some coffee but making time for even a quick breakfast can really improve your entire day. 

Eating breakfast is imperative for everyone, even for those focused on losing weight. Interestingly, studies show that those who skip breakfast actually have a higher BMI than those who don’t because the metabolism holds onto those extra calories instead of using them up. Eating breakfast not only helps burn fat, it also stabilizes blood sugar and dramatically improves concentration and mood throughout the day. A healthy breakfast provides energy, helps avoid unhealthy snacking and even prepares the body to eat smaller meals throughout the day. 

It’s important to choose a healthy breakfast that can jumpstart your day. You should avoid added sugars, white bread, and other processed foods. A healthy breakfast should be well balanced and include protein, fruits/vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy. 

Even if you’re on a tight schedule during the morning, you can still ensure a healthy start to your morning by preparing breakfast ahead of time during weekends or even setting everything out the night before to spend minimal time in the kitchen during the morning. 

Try some of these ideas for a quick, hearty breakfast:

As you can see, there are so many benefits to making time for breakfast. Take a few minutes to plan ahead to get every day off to a better start.
